Project results:
- The workload for reporting was reduced from 4 days per month to one day.
- Bessere Erkenntnisse dank dynamischer Power BI-Dashboards, die bisher mit PowerPoint-Berichten nicht möglich waren.
- The reports were provided via MS Teams with department and position-dependent access rights.
Project Objectives
Before Walecon was hired, the data required for reporting was sent from the individual departments (Sales, Marketing, Purchasing and Operations) in Excel to the Controlling department, which analysed the data and summarised it in a PowerPoint presentation. This process was time-consuming and error-prone and needed to be automated.
Our Approach
The first step was to analyse all the data required for reporting. Where possible, links were created to primary systems (e.g. Salesforce). For the remaining data, customised templates were created, stored centrally and automatically imported into the report. Following the implementation of the new process, the client was supported through three further reporting cycles to identify errors and further simplify the process. Workshops were held to improve the reporting structures and implement intuitive visualisations according to best practice standards.
The following tools were used in this project:
Power BI
SQL Server
Project results
The workload for reporting was reduced from 4 days per month to 1 day. The full potential of Power BI's dynamic dashboards could be exploited, which was not possible with the static PowerPoint reports. Reports were made available to employees through MS Team, with access rights and visible information controlled by department and position.
Support with financial modelling, valuation, data analytics, Excel and Power BI.
